If it doesn’t cost you, you haven’t started.

God, as we begin tonight’s session father, please cause our hearts to be open and ready to receive your word and let it do what you have sent it to do and let your name be glorified in Jesus name.

Our Topic for tonight is: If it doesn’t cost you, you haven’t started. Cost here means: Paying for the value or the worth of something…

Am I right or Nay?

For Example: For a child to grow, that child has to stay Nourished and must eat properly for growth to happen and for such person to be in good health likewise.

Now if a child is born, for that child to grow into becoming a teenager, an adult, that child needs to be nurtured all through that journey.

The scripture says "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will never depart from it” – Proverbs 22:6.

This scripture is tilted much more towards salvation, salvation is the basis for all these things being said because salvation is what guides us through life.

What that child needs is the proper diet, nourishment, the right quantity of water that will help the child, proper guidance, and everything needed for the child to grow, if not, the child will be malnourished.

This is why some people that were not well nurtured while growing as a result of not eating in the right manner have one body part not functioning properly and then the person becomes malnourished as the person grows. There are certain that has to be out in place before the Child of God can emerge

Number One is the Place of Sacrifice

Dearly beloved I bring you good news that, for you to be equipped, something must be given for another to come in.

The place of sacrifice is very pivotal in this process.

The Story of Abraham is a perfect Example:

Read Gen 22: 1-19

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV), we understand that ‘Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new’.

‘Becoming’ here means yielding process and transformation.

When a man gives his life to Christ, he doesn’t totally become transformed, there is that place where the nature of that man becomes transformed on a daily to the nature of Christ.

There is the pace of yielding, yielding to accepting the nature of Christ

‘Process’ here means journey, the moment a person yields, he/she starts their journey.

For instance, when you gain admission into the university (or any other higher  institution), you don’t collect your certificate from the start of the journey, it is after you have gone through the process of yielding to becoming a student then you will get your certificate.

The certificate in this example is that place of transformation meaning this man has become transformed into a new man.

It's still a journey but when you become transformed is when you will look back at your old nature and see that those things you used to do, you no longer want to do them anymore, that is where transformation takes place.

“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.” Mark‬

Wholeness in Christ is complete, hence it is what is NEW that is commensurate to another NEW.

When you proclaim the name of Jesus, your life has to yield to the process of a transformed man, it is that Transformed man that people see that draws men to the Kingdom.

For Example:

A man given to drugs and drinking suddenly turns away from his lifestyle. Check it, if exactly he left that life style because he no longer has the money to or if life actually puts him through a test of having the money but he still keeps to his decision of staying away. You will know if that man has become transformed by the kind of life, what he says, where he goes, what he does after that decision has been made.

For equipping to happen, for you to emerge, certain things must happen to you, you must be willing to do certain things, you must live a life that is constantly devoted to God, emphasis on the ‘Constant’, your life must be given to the will of your father, when this is done, the name of the Lord is glorified, your life is constantly renewed and anytime that your old nature comes knocking, because of the  conviction that comes upon you, your conviction is so strong, those things will only come, they will not shake you.

 

Number Two: Seek Wise Counsel

This is one thing that the younger generation does not want to indulge in, there is the belief that we can do things alone, that we are good in our beliefs and our knowledge. You are not an island, you can never be all ‘right alone’, you need God and the right people.

Proverbs 11:14 KJV

Where no counsel is, the people fall: But in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

No matter how great you are in knowing the scriptures, where there is no counsel, the people fall, however, in the multitude of counsellors, there is safety.

No matter how knowledgeable you are, you need people, in fact I had a strong burden in my heart as I went on my retreat last year into this year and I entered this year praying “God in my journey with you, in my journey in life, let every part of my life and destiny, send me ministry men, those that will be my ‘Aaron’, my help, the shoulders to lean, the right people to speak to”

These people are needed  my beloved of God, if you’ve not been praying for these people, start praying now

 

Number 3: Live a life that grows in the Fruit of the Spirit

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”

 

This is a check on our lives, I don’t know how many of us check ourselves is it weekly, how constantly do we analyse our lives?

How do I mean? I do this personally, there are times that I am annoyed perhaps because someone  offended me by what the person said or did, how I react to that thing shows me my growth in the fruit of the Spirit, how I interprete things, how I relate to people, how I react to things in life, my manner of approach to life, how I handle my business, how I handle my ministry, how I live my life in the house and outside the house, it keeps me in check and shows my level of growth, helping me to grow more in the fruit of the Spirit.

It is better that people from your house and outside  can testify that you are a good man than  only people outside can testify you’re a good house while inside your house, you’re a bad person.

The light that we shine must be shone all round.

Scripture makes us understand in Matthew 5:14 KJV

[14] Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Your light must shine, if you are growing in the fruit of the Spirit, it must show not just 4 out of 7 or 3 out of 9, it must be in all, we must constantly grow in the fruit of the Spirit.

This is how you emerge, you don’t have to present yourself to people as being equipped because it is so evident, the Fruit of the Spirit shows, it abounds from within, out, this is what is evident to people that they may see your light and glorify your father who is in heaven.

 

Number 4 is  Everything stated in 1st Thessalonians 5:16-22

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.”

In Closing:

“Be well balanced and always alert, because your enemy, the devil, roams around incessantly, like a roaring lion looking for its prey to devour. Take a decisive stand against him and resist his every attack with strong, vigorous faith. For you know that your believing brothers and sisters around the world are experiencing the same kinds of troubles you endure.”

Let this soak deep into our spirits and cause a transformation that will blow our minds such transformation that will cause men to see your Glory and glorify you.

Such Transformation that will cause your light upon our lives to win others into your kingdom
